Dimensions of the Lincoln Memorial

- 36 columns that represent the 36 states in the Union at the time of Lincoln's death
- Lincoln statue is 19 feet tall (the original plan was for the statue to be only 10 feet tall, but they had to change it so Lincoln would not look like a dwarf compared to the size of the chamber it was placed in)
- Lincoln statue weight 175 tons (The design was suppose to have 6 horses surrounding the Lincoln statue, and 31 people statues. However, the project was never put into place, because there was not enough money to fund it.)
On Top and Around the Lincoln Memorial
Here is a picture of the top of the Lincoln Memorial. In this picture are listed some of the the 36 states that were a part of the Union at the death of Abraham Lincoln. The 36 states along with 36 pillars go along the entire building.
